Hazardous Waste Disposal Day in Johns Creek

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- It's time to get rid of those old cans of paint and insecticide that have been sitting in the garage for years.

The City of Johns Creek, Keep North Fulton Beautiful and The Home Depot are sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Johns Creek Home Depot (5950 State Bridge Road, Johns Creek, 30097).

"A lot of people don't want to just throw toxic liquids and material in the landfill, so they hang onto it," said James Swope, manager of Johns Creek Solid Waste.

Johns Creek to Host Household Hazardous Waste Workshop

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The Fulton County Public Works Department will host a free household hazardous waste workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The workshop will take place at the Ocee Branch Library (5090 Abbots Bridge Road, Johns Creek, 30005).

A typical home can contain many types of hazardous household products used for cleaning, painting, beautifying, lubricating and disinfecting the house, yard, workshop and garage. Chemical-based household products in a single home may seem insignificant, but when millions of homes across Georgia use similar products -- handling, storing and disposing of them improperly -- the combined effort can become a major problem.

The hazardous waste workshop will educate residents on how to use alternative household cleaners.
