Metro Atlanta students named officers of state Beta Club

DALLAS, Ga. -- Three students from Metro Atlanta high schools are the new officers of the Georgia Senior Beta Club.

The officers were elected during the Georgia chapter's annual conference at the beginning of March:

* President: Caleb Swiney (North Paulding High, Dallas)
* Vice President: Jared Moto (Chattahoochee High, Johns Creek)
* Secretary: Kristyn Stanback (Northview High, Johns Creek)

"I don't remember what I felt when they called my name," said Swiney, who is active in North Paulding High's Beta Club. "I just remember the club swarmed me. I couldn't believe it."

During the conference, Swiney presented a speech on how he learned to be a leader and work through difficult situations using his love for music.

As president, he hopes to get more Beta Clubs throughout Georgia to attend the national convention in Nashville, Tennessee in June.

Students who are involved in their schools' Beta Clubs work hard year-round to serve others and their communities.
