This weekend is a great time to save a 4-legged friend

Fulton County Animal Services is FULL.  When most county animal control shelters get full, they just quietly start killing animals.  However, FCAS is now run by LifeLine Animal Project, which wants to save all healthy, friendly animals, so the shelter is pulling out all the stops to get animals adopted into loving homes.

This weekend, FCAS is waiving all adoption fees with the hopes that people will spread the word and those who have been looking for a pet will stop by and adopt.  Dogs and cats will still go home spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, including rabies, microchipped, and with a certificate for a free first vet visit.  FCAS is staying open on Memorial Day from 11am to 7pm in order to find homes for more animals.  They are also hosting adoption events from noon to 5pm Saturday at the PetSmart in Alpharetta across from North Point Mall and the Petco Unleashed in the Publix shopping center at Howell Mill and Collier Road, and noon to 5pm Sunday at PetSmart in Alpharetta and PetSmart on Howell Mill in the WalMart shopping center.

The shelter is located at 860 Marietta Boulevard, Atlanta, GA 30318.  It's across from the Fulton County Jail.  Weekend hours are 11am to 6pm, and weekdays 11am to 7pm.  All adoptable animals can be viewed at www.fultonanimalservices.com.

There is also an application and brief interview to assure all pets go to good homes.

The shelter is always looking for foster homes, too.  With the weather getting warmer, the shelter will take in dozens of litters of puppies and kittens that need to be bottle fed, and adults need to get out of the shelter, too.
