Proposed AP French, German textbooks on display

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Parents are invited to come and review Advanced Placement textbooks being considered for future use in Fulton County high schools.

The College Board, which coordinates the AP program, is making changes to its French and German national exams, requiring new texts to be adopted.

Starting Thursday, Sept. 15, the books -- Face-à-face: Conversation et rédaction and Aspekte -- will be available for review and comment at two locations:

* Fulton County Schools Administrative Center (786 Cleveland Avenue SW, Atlanta/East Point)

* Milton Center/Independence High School media center (86 School Drive, Alpharetta)

Both books were vetted by a World Languages textbook screening committee last May; they also align to the new AP exams. They will be on display until Saturday, Oct. 15, when feedback will be collected and shared with the school board for final approval.

If adopted, the books will be used in Fulton County's AP French and German classes beginning with the 2012-13 school year.
