FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The Fulton County School System has identified 16 schools that can accept transfer students during the 2011-2012 school year.

These schools are part of the "public school choice" legislation (H.B. 251). Approved in 2009, the law gives parents the option to choose a school outside of their attendance zone, provided it has available classroom space to accommodate transfers.

The application deadline is Monday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m. Parents will be notified of their children's transfer status by Thursday, June 30.

A transfer application is available online for the following schools:

* Bethune, College Park
* Birmingham Falls, Milton
* Crabapple Crossing, Milton
* Findley Oaks, Johns Creek
* Holmes, East Point
* Ison Springs, Sandy Springs
* Medlock Bridge, Johns Creek
* Renaissance, Fairburn
* Shakerag, Johns Creek

* Paul D. West, East Point
* Woodland, East Point

* Chattahoochee, Johns Creek
* Creekside, Fairburn
* Northview, Johns Creek
* Tri-Cities, East Point
