JOHNS CREEK: Tiger Woods says he is happy for ex-caddie Williams

JOHNS CREEK: Tiger Woods says he is happy for ex-caddie Williams

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - Even as he took the high road Wednesday in a nasty split with his longtime caddie, Tiger Woods lowered his standard of success on the eve of the PGA Championship.

It wasn't long ago that Woods said it couldn't be a great year without winning a major.

Now he would consider the year a success because he no longer hurts.

To be clear, he is thinking only about winning when the PGA Championship gets under way Thursday in the stifling heat at Atlanta Athletic Club. That much hasn't changed, and probably never will.

Asked for a realistic expectation in the final major - remember, this is only his third time teeing it up since April and he hasn't won any tournament in 21 months - Woods said a "W."

"Do you want me to elaborate?" he added. "A nice W."

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -- The city of Johns Creek is preparing to unveil Park Place, its renovated center for active adults.

The grand opening event at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 28 will cap a two-year effort to transform the former Newtown School building into an inviting space for Johns Creek residents who are at least 62 years old and looking to fill their days with recreational and educational activities.

"We are looking forward to showing off this great facility to our residents," said John Kachmar, Johns Creek city manager. "We've worked hard to transform this historic building into a welcoming place that our folks can use for many years to come."

Park Place features 4,800 square feet of classrooms, a meeting hall, studios, a kitchen and an office.

Bike Ride Will Shut Down GA 400

Bike Ride Will Shut Down GA 400

Bicycles on Georgia 400?  Isn’t that normally illegal?  This coming Sunday, for the third year in a row, Georgia 400 will be shut down so that bicycles can ride in the “Hospitality Highway Century” to benefit the Georgia Transplant Foundation (GTF). It’s your chance to be one of the few folks who can say that they shut down Georgia 400 and did something good for someone else at the same time.

Registered riders will promptly start at 6:30 a.m. from the former Home Depot parking lot in Roswell, at the intersection of Holcomb Bridge Rd. and Market Blvd., and pedal their way down GA 400 from exit 7 to exit 6. Cyclists will then wind through the cities of Roswell, Sandy Springs, Milton, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, and other scenic areas of north Fulton, Forsyth, and Cherokee counties.  The route includes rest stops, complete with bathrooms, full mechanical support, and a variety of snacks and drinks.
