Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra Announces Season Premiere

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra will open its fourth season with a performance of "Mozart, Schumann & Salieri" and a bicentennial tribute to Robert Alexander Schumann, one of the greatest composers of the German Romantic period.

The concert will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Johns Creek High School Theater (5575 State Bridge Road, Johns Creek, 30005) at 8:00 p.m.

In addition to the music of Schumann, the JCSO will also perform Mozart's Symphony No. 4 in D Minor, Op.120; Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major; and the overture to the opera La Scuola di Gelosi [School of Jealousy], to which Antonio Salieri contributed.

Tickets are $28 for adults, $22 for seniors (55+) and $15 for students. Credit cards are accepted, and group rates and season tickets are available for parties of 10 or more.

Firemen Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The Chick-fil-A restaurant at Alpharetta Commons is hosting a Firemen Appreciation Day on Saturday, Sept. 18 in honor of the dedicated firefighters working to keep the Alpharetta community safe.

The restaurant will donate 50 cents of every Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich sold on the 18th to the Alpharetta Fire Department's Boot Drive. The Boot Drive will benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

During Firemen Appreciation Day, Chick-fil-A will feature interactive activities for children in its parking lot from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., including an inflatable castle and a mobile fire education house courtesy of the Alpharetta Fire Department.

Johns Creek Resident Wins Dream Dog Park Contest

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Pat McNeely and his best pal Koda, a six-year-old Siberian Husky, have a big reason to celebrate. The duo recently won the Beneful WagWorld Dream Dog Park Contest.

McNeely's idea to create the ultimate dog park served as inspiration for the $500,000 makeover of Newtown Dog Park in Johns Creek. McNeely was one of 10 finalists in the online contest that invited dog owners across the country to answer the question: "If you had $500,000 to create the ultimate dream dog park for you and your best buddy, what would you do?"

The Beneful WagWorld Dream Team, led by television host, design expert and dog lover Jason Cameron, along with dog expert and bestselling author Arden Moore, crowned McNeely and Koda the Grand Prize Winners of the contest at a hometown celebration event.

City is looking to fall with softball, festival and movie

Johns Creek is gearing up for autumn with the Fall Family Festival, formation of adult co-ed softball teams, and Movies in the Park all in the works.
