ATLANTA -- "Atlanta's Biggest Loser" is now accepting entries for contestants for the show's fifth edition.

Like its national cousin, this season of "Atlanta's Biggest Loser" is a couples' edition. Any kind of couple can apply -- siblings, parent/child, co-workers, friends and every pairing in between.

The deadline to apply is noon on Friday, Feb. 18 at www.atlbiggestloser.com.

"Atlanta's Biggest Loser" will officially begin on Monday, Mar. 7. Six teams of two will work with one of 11Alive's two fitness partners, D.R.E.A.M.

Georgia Lottery Debuts 'Decades of Dollars' Game

ATLANTA -- The Georgia Lottery is introducing a multi-state game with the opportunity to win millions.

Decades of Dollars is a new game with a top prize of $250,000 every year for 30 years.

"We constantly are looking for ways to keep our games fresh and exciting for players as we work to maximize revenues for the educational programs we fund," said Georgia Lottery Corporation president and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco. "The additional revenue generated by Decades of Dollars will benefit Georgia's HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K students."

Decades of Dollars tickets went on sale Sunday, Jan. 30, with the first drawing scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3. Drawings will be held every Monday and Thursday at 11:00 p.m.; they will be broadcast live on Georgia Lottery draw stations throughout the state.

Tickets are $2 per play.

Nation's Top High School Basketball Players Coming to Alpharetta for 'Hoops in Overdrive'

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The third annual "Hoops in Overdrive" basketball tournament brings 28 teams, 150 Division 1 athletes and some of the nation's brightest talent to Centennial High School (9310 Scott Road, Alpharetta, 30022).

The three-day tournament will take place from Thursday, Dec. 30 to Saturday, Jan. 1 and will welcome the United States' consensus top rated high school senior, Austin Rivers of Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida.

The 6'5" Rivers is son of Boston Celtics head coach and NBA legend Doc Rivers.

Race for Smiles Raises Money for Children's Healthcare

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Johns Creek Pediatric Dental Town is hosting a 5K/1K "Race for Smiles" to benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Children's Cancer Fund of America.

The race will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 8:00 a.m. at Dental Town (4330 Johns Creek Parkway, Suite 100, Suwanee, 30024). Runners of all ages are encouraged to participate; walkers and strollers will be welcomed.

The cost for adults to run the 5K is $20, but this fee is reduced to $15 for established Dental Town families. Children ages 12 and under who participate in the 1K are $10. Register at the race's Active site no later than Friday, Nov.

Register for the Founders Day Parade

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The 4th annual Johns Creek Founders Day Parade is less than a month away, and the registration time for participating in the parade is nearing.

Anyone interested in being in this year's parade is asked to fill out the official form and either fax or mail it to the City of Johns Creek. The registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 12.

The 2010 Founders Day Parade will feature a visit from the world-famous Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. The "Heavy Hitters" drumline and Homer the Brave, mascot of the Braves, are also scheduled to appear. 11Alive morning anchor and Johns Creek resident Karyn Greer will be the emcee.

The parade will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 10:00 a.m.

City is looking to fall with softball, festival and movie

Johns Creek is gearing up for autumn with the Fall Family Festival, formation of adult co-ed softball teams, and Movies in the Park all in the works.
